2013 marks Jeff Burton’s 20th full-time season in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. His career has included 655 starts, 21 wins, six pole awards, 132 top-five and 248 top-10 finishes.

Burton began racing go-karts in his hometown of South Boston, Va. at the age of seven and went on to claim the Virginia state championship. He climbed his way through the late model ranks in Virginia and eventually made his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut in 1988 in a car owned by his father, John. Burton earned his first career Nationwide Series victory in 1990 driving for the legendary Sam Ard and in 1993 made his first career Sprint Cup Series start at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

In his first season driving for the Stavola Brothers, Burton earned the 1994 Sprint Cup Series Rookie of the Year honors and won his first career NSCS pole award at Michigan International Speedway in 1996 with Roush Fenway Racing. Burton’s first Sprint Cup Series win came in 1997 in the inaugural race at Texas Motor Speedway and from 1997-2000 he finished within the top five of the driver championship point standings, posting a career best finish of third in 2000.

Midway through the 2004 season, Burton joined Richard Childress Racing and tallied a career-best four pole awards in 2006. From 2006-2008, Burton won races at Dover International Speedway (2006), Texas Motor Speedway (2007) Bristol Motor Speedway (2008) and Charlotte Motor Speedway (2008) while qualifying each season for the prestigious Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Most recently, he competed in his fourth Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup in 2010, scored a win in the 2011 Duel 150 qualifying race at Daytona International Speedway, reached career milestones in 2011 with his 900th career NASCAR start and 600th Sprint Cup Series start and finished the 2012 season with two top-five and six top-10 finishes en route to a 19th-place finish in the final NSCS driver championship points standings

Other career highlights include being named 2007 Person of the Year by NASCAR Illustrated, a Nationwide Series career that boasts 27 wins, 11 pole awards, 90 top-five and 153 top-10 finishes in 306 starts, along with the 2007 owner’s championship trophy when he co-piloted the No. 29 Chevrolet with teammate Scott Wimmer and he was the last NSCS driver to lead 100 percent of the laps in a NASCAR-sanctioned event, pacing the field for all 300 laps en route to victory at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in 2000.

When Burton is away from the track, he can be found attending wife Kim and daughter Paige’s equestrian events or building son Harrison’s late model race cars. He currently resides in Huntersville, N.C. with his family.
