Childress Inducted into Hall of Fame

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 13, 2007) -- NASCAR champion team owner Richard Childress was inducted into the Rotary Club of Oceanside Stock Car Racing Hall of Fame last night in ceremonies at The Shores Resort and Spa in Daytona Beach Shores.

The 18th annual event also saw the induction of legendary NASCAR executive Les Richter.

“What a great honor it is to be inducted into the Rotary Club of Oceanside Stock Car Racing Hall of Fame,” said Childress. “Many of the men in the hall of fame were my heroes growing up, people in the sport I have looked up to and respected, and my friends. I was at Dale’s (Earnhardt) ceremony in 2004 and thought it was a great tribute so I was honored when I got the news about my own induction.”

The Hall of Fame is located inside The Shores Resort & Spa. Past inductees include Richard Petty (1990), Bill France (1993), Benny Parsons (1998), Bill France, Jr. (2001), and Dale Earnhardt (2004).

Richard Childress Racing (www.rcrracing.com) has earned more than 150 victories and 10 NASCAR championships, including six in the NEXTEL Cup Series with the legendary Dale Earnhardt. It was the first organization to win championships in the NEXTEL Cup Series, Busch Series and Truck Series. Its 2007 NEXTEL Cup Series lineup includes Clint Bowyer (No. 07 Jack Daniel’s), Kevin Harvick (No. 29 Shell) and Jeff Burton (No. 31 Cingular Wireless). Its Busch Series lineup includes Clint Bowyer (No. 2 BB&T), Harvick and Timothy Peters (No. 21 AutoZone) and Burton and Scott Wimmer (No. 29 Holiday Inn).
