RCR and Jack Daniel's team to Salute the American Auto Worker at Michigan race
WELCOME, NC – NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team owner Richard Childress wanted to recognize American auto workers for this weekend’s race at Michigan International Speedway. So, he reached out to some friends for support and they responded.
The familiar black and white No. 07 Jack Daniel’s Chevrolet Impala SS, driven by Casey Mears, will look the same at MIS this weekend, but with a special message.
The words “Jack Salutes the American Auto Worker” will be prominently displayed on the Chevrolet’s hood in support of the automotive industry. The recognition is for all American auto workers across the country, but being utilized for the Michigan race because of its proximity to Detroit, known as Motor City, and headquarters of General Motors.
“The auto worker has been the backbone of the American workforce for decades,” said Richard Childress, president and CEO of Richard Childress Racing. “Their pride in the cars and trucks they produce helped make our country great. The auto industry is going through some difficult times now, but it’s the dedication of auto workers throughout the United States to build the best products in the world that will get them back on top.
“I salute the American auto worker for all they do for our country, and I salute everyone at Jack Daniel’s for honoring them with this special paint scheme on the No. 07 Chevrolet Impala SS.”
This is the fifth year Jack Daniel’s has been a primary partner with RCR on the No. 07 Impala SS.
“Jack Daniel’s is a proud American brand crafted by hardworking men and women in Lynchburg, Tennessee and enjoyed around the world,” said Tim Rutledge, VP, Jack Daniel’s Brand Director. “We are happy to be associated with Richard Childress Racing, and when Richard suggested we join him in saluting the American auto worker at the Michigan race, we simply said ‘yes.’
“Jack Daniel’s is happy to salute the dedicated auto workers of America, and we are pleased to join Richard in saluting them on the hood of the 07 Chevrolet at this important race. Pace Yourself, Please Drink Responsibly.”
The one-race scheme will also appear on the No. 07 Jack Daniel’s Chevrolet show car, which will be at Jerry’s Pub on Friday, Aug. 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. (EDT) for a public appearance by Mears and members of Mr. Jack’s Crew. The show car will also be at the Chevrolet display at MIS all weekend with Mears making an appearance there on Sunday, August 16, from 10:45 to 11:15 a.m. Another initiative includes a special pit banner in the No. 07 Jack Daniel’s Chevrolet pit stall for Sunday’s race.
