RCR Bolsters its Marketing Department

Welcome, N.C. (Sept. 13, 2005) -- Richard Childress Racing (RCR) has hired Tom Knox as its managing director of business development and promoted Jason Garrow to the director of sponsor services.

Knox will be responsible for evaluating and pursuing new business opportunities, leading the efforts to add to RCR’s family of sponsors and technical partners and working with RCR’s sponsor services group to bring additional opportunities to its partners.

The Wayne, N.J., native comes to RCR from Rusty Wallace, Inc., where he had been since 1999 and last held the position of vice president of business development. From 1997-99, he was a sales account manager with NASCAR’s New York office. Knox earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from Fairfield University in 1994 and a Master of Business Administration in Marketing from Seton Hall University in 1997.

“We are excited to have someone of Tom’s caliber join our team,” said Ben Schlosser, RCR’s vice president of marketing. “His experience and proven ability to forge new partnerships will be an asset to Richard Childress Racing. Tom has developed a first-class reputation within the NASCAR industry and it is well-deserved.”

Garrow will oversee day-to-day business activities and client activation with current sponsors, manage sponsors’ event and at-track activities, work with RCR partners to leverage their sponsorship assets and help develop new marketing activities and services for RCR.

The Marshall, Minn., native had been RCR’s senior sponsorship manager since February 2003. A 1992 graduate of Augustana College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration/Economics, he earned a Master of Science degree in Sports Management in 1996 from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.

“Jason’s ongoing commitment to helping our partners maximize their investment in RCR is what our sponsor services group is all about,” said Schlosser. “He will continue to work with our partners to add value and find new avenues to activate their programs.”

Richard Childress Racing (www.rcrracing.com) has earned more than 125 victories and nine NASCAR championships, including six in the NEXTEL Cup Series with the legendary Dale Earnhardt. It was the first organization to win championships in the NEXTEL Cup Series, Busch Series and Truck Series. Its 2005 NEXTEL Cup Series lineup includes Dave Blaney (No. 07 Jack Daniel’s), Kevin Harvick (No. 29 GM Goodwrench), Jeff Burton (No. 31 Cingular Wireless) and Kerry Earnhardt (No. 33 Bass Pro Shops). Its Busch Series lineup includes Clint Bowyer (No. 2 ACDelco Chevrolet) along with Harvick and Brandon Miller (No. 21 Reese’s Chevrolet).
