Richard Childress owned and raced this Chevrolet Laguna in 1976 and 1977. It was sponsored by Kansas Jack Auto Body and Frame Repair Equipment of McPherson, Kansas, and the L.C. Newton Trucking Company of Seaford, Delaware. It is still equipped with the original engine. Childress finished eleventh in the NASCAR Winston Cup point standings in 1976 and ninth the next season. In seven full seasons of NASCAR Winston Cup competition, Childress finished in the top-10 of the point standings five times, including a career-best fifth in 1975.
