It was in this room that the research and development of Chevrolet Monte Carlo and Lumina prototypes took place in secrecy and under tight security. The development of the Lumina, which began in late 1987 and debuted at Talladega Superspeedway in May 1989, laid the foundation for RCR's NASCAR Winston Cup championships in 1990-91 and 1993-94. All of the approvals for the return of the Monte Carlo in 1995 and its revised body style for the 2000 season were also done here.
