Dillon Brothers Hoop It Up with Celebrities for The Childress Institute

For the first time in three years, neither of the Dillon Brothers took home the championship trophy at their annual charity basketball tournament. But that’s OK, Austin and Ty said. Their third annual star-studded, fan-friendly basketball tournament was a hit again in 2017.

“We just want to raise a lot of money for a cause that is close to us and have a lot of fun at the same time,” Ty Dillon said. “It’s a win-win.”

Headlined by the Dillon Brothers, former Carolina Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams, fellow NASCAR drivers Ricky Stenhouse, Bubba Wallace and David Ragan, former NFL player Jason Sehorn, Duke University basketball star Shavlik Randolph, former NBA All-Star Brad Miller and many, many more, the tournament raised money for the Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma in a big way.

Prior to the tournament, kids of all ages participated in an hour-long basketball clinic led by the Dillon Brothers and former Wake Forest University basketball star, Craig Dawson.

Team Leaf Filter, which included players from Kaulig Racing, took home the championship led by XFINITY Series crew chief, Chris Rice. The team breezed through the 16-team, double-elimination tournament without recording a loss until the championship game.

Here are some of the highlights from yesterday’s event at Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina.
