2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Season Comes to an End with Awards Banquet in Las Vegas

Las Vegas (Dec. 1, 2012) - Following a week filled with fun and excitement in “Sin City”, Kevin Harvick was presented a trophy for completing the 2012 racing season eighth in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship driver point standings on the merit of one win, five top-five and 14 top-10 finishes.
Harvick traveled to Las Vegas for Champion's Week where he and the 11 other Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup contenders entertained racing enthusiasts during several fan events beginning with Fan Fest presented by Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Tuesday afternoon. All top-12 drivers competed in a spirited matchup of ‘Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader’. The team of 2012 Sprint Cup Series Champion Brad Keselowski and 2011 Sprint Cup Series Champion Tony Stewart proved they are smarter than a fifth grader, winning the overall event. Harvick and teammate Denny Hamlin were eliminated after forgetting to carry the one in a math problem.
The week’s special activities continued Thursday morning when Chevrolet unveiled the 2013 No. 29 Budweiser Chevrolet SS stock car that will debut during SpeedWeeks at Daytona International Speedway in February. After that Chevrolet several members of the NASCAR community gathered for the annual Myers Brothers Awards Luncheon, which was then followed by a trip to the Las Vegas strip where all top-12 drivers made a Victory Lap down the famous Las Vegas Boulevard and participated in a burnout contest. Fan events were capped off at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino with After the Lap, a comical tell-all event featuring all top-12 drivers.
The celebration concluded Friday evening with the Sprint Cup Series Awards banquet hosted by legendary comedian Howie Mandel, and included special appearances by Train, Lifehouse, Natasha Bedingfield, Phillip Phillips and more. The top-10 drivers were also honored during the ceremony.
