Oval Debut ...
After making two starts in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Watkins Glen International (2003 and 2005), Menard made his oval-track debut in NASCAR's premier series at Atlanta Motor Speedway in March 2006. At that appearance, he started 22nd and finished an impressive seventh.

Race Rewind ... Starting 18th, Menard overcame handling issues to finish eighth at Atlanta Motor Speedway in last year's AdvoCare 500.

Menard's Thoughts on Racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway:
"Atlanta (Motor Speedway) is one of my favorite tracks. I've had some good races there in the past and we've got some momentum heading into this weekend after our sixth-place finish at Bristol (Motor Speedway). It's a track that races really well and it's a lot of fun, especially with it now being a night race. The race track itself has older pavement, which makes it hands down the raciest track we go to on the schedule. It's kind of a throw-back track that we all enjoy racing."

Kevin Harvick

Kevin Harvick will pilot chassis No. 429 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stable in the AdvoCare 500. This RCR-prepared machine was most recently driven by Harvick to a 19th-place result at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in July.

Share your thoughts on racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway:
"Atlanta (Motor Speedway) has been a great race track for us the last few years. The asphalt is really worn out, and the speed of the car changes a lot from the start of a run to the finish of the run. It makes for some good racing as the cars start moving around and sliding around the track."

Many drivers say the asphalt at Atlanta Motor Speedway is really worn out, and they like it that way. Do you agree?
"Absolutely. You want the asphalt to be worn out. I don't know why so many tracks keep repaving without any rocks in them. Rocks wear the tires out and everyone likes to watch the cars slide around when the tires fall off."

Race Rewind ... After starting from the 26th position, Burton and the No. 31 Caterpillar Chevrolet team battled to a 12th-place finish in the 2012 AdvoCare 500 under the lights at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Do you agree that Atlanta Motor Speedway isn't your typical 1.5-mile race track?
"The backstretch at Atlanta Motor Speedway is short, but most of the action is in the D-shaped frontstretch. The most unique thing about Atlanta is the grip level. The grip level is just so different from all these tracks that have been recently repaved. I always like to say that Atlanta has multiple personalities. The difference between the handling of the car in race and qualifying trim is amazing. When you make a qualifying run you attack the track, but in race trim you run it smooth; similar to the way we used to run Darlington Raceway in the 1990's. Atlanta is a fun race track because it has multiple grooves, but it is challenging because the car's handling changes so much throughout a run."

You finished in the top-five in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway last year. What does it take to run well there?
"I think the grip level is key at Atlanta Motor Speedway. You have to really get after it, stay consistent and not slip the tires. The drivers who have been able to find a line right around the bottom have been very successful. We were able to come from almost a lap down to third last year in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race once we figured out a few things with the car, and I think some of those same things we learned will be useful to us this year in both the Nationwide race and the Sprint Cup Series race. Hopefully, we can have a good run."
