Make it four in a row for Richard Childress Racing.
Daniel Hemric will lead the field to green for today’s Xfinity Series Powershares QQQ 300 at Daytona International Speedway in the No. 21 South Point Hotel & Casino Chevrolet Camaro SS. Hemric won the pole with a qualifying time of 47.541 seconds, giving RCR its fourth consecutive pole in the season opener, dating back to 2015.
“This is kind of unexpected,” Hemric said. “Credit to these guys on the 21 team for busting their tails to get this car right after some minor damage in practice yesterday. This is a heck of a way to start the season off and I couldn’t be more excited for today’s race.”
This is Hemric’s second-career pole win. He led the field to green last April at Richmond International Raceway.
Fellow RCR teammate Matt Tifft qualified the No. 2 Nexteer Chevrolet Camaro SS third with a time of 47.640. Austin Dillon and the No. 3 team were unable to qualify and will start from the rear of the field.
The Powershares QQQ 300 will go green today at 2:30 p.m. ET, live on FS1.
