RCR Invades Philly for XFINITY Series #Road2Pocono Event

May 28th, 2016

The ‘City of Brotherly Love’ was invaded by the boys of the NASCAR XFINITY Series Tuesday, as the ‘Road to Pocono’ helped promote the upcoming June 4, 2016 race at the Tricky Triangle. As the XFINITY Series prepares to make its first ever trip to Pocono Raceway, Richard Childress Racing teammates Ty Dillon and Brandon Jones spent the day bringing the excitement of NASCAR to the streets of Philadelphia.

The morning started with appearances on FOX 29 and The Comcast Network’s Breakfast on Broad Facebook page for Jones and the RCR pit crews. While they were making television magic, Dillon spent the morning talking with two of Philadelphia’s most popular morning radio shows, 93.3 WMMR’s Preston & Steve Show and 92.5 WXTU’s Morning Crew.

Having fun in front of the Philadelphia sports complexes, the RCR XFINITY Series pit crew broke from their routine while performing a pit stop to take part in the Running Man Challenge. The video quickly became a hit on social media and showed off the crew’s awesome dance moves.

After the morning fun, Dillon and Jones spent time touring the Comcast Center in Center City Philadelphia, visiting with employees and fans.

While Jones signed autographs and posed for photos at the fan event, Dillon climbed aboard the No. 3 Rheem Chevrolet and hit the city streets. Dillon smoked the tires to the excitement of the crowd looking on, as he drove the car around a parade route that took him past the iconic City Hall.

With most of the festivities in the books, the drivers and crews headed to another pair of Philadelphia landmarks: Pat’s and Geno’s. The crew first tried the steaks at Geno’s Steaks before crossing the street and taking in another at Pat’s King of Steaks.

The opinions varied on who had the best cheesesteak, but there was a consensus among the group that the city of Philadelphia and the Comcast employees are ready for the inaugural NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Pocono Raceway on June 4, 2016.
