Austin Dillon Takes on New York as Daytona 500 Champion

There has been little rest for Austin Dillon after becoming the 2018 Daytona 500 champion.

On Sunday, Dillon earned his first victory in the Great American Race by leading just one lap. The dramatic finish put the Richard Childress Racing No. 3 Chevrolet back in Daytona Victory Lane 20 years after Dale Earnhardt accomplished the feat in 1998.

The celebration lasted well into the night for Dillon and his No. 3 team, but they were back to work the next morning and throughout the day on Tuesday being recognized as Daytona 500 champions.

The winning No. 3 Dow Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 was enshrined in the museum outside Turn 4 of Daytona International Speedway early Monday morning and it will remain there until next year’s race.

From there, Dillon flew to New York City on a whirlwind media tour discussing this historic victory. His victory tour took him to FS1, FOX News, Live with Kelly and Ryan, NBC and even to the New York Stock Exchange, where he rang the closing bell for the second time in less than a year.
