Daniel Hemric, Shane Lee & RCR Pit Crew Takeover Philadelphia

Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Xfinity Series drivers Daniel Hemric and Shane Lee, along with the No. 21 South Point Hotel & Casino Chevrolet pit crew joined a host of their competitors in the City of Brotherly Love on Tuesday, May 8 for the third annual Xfinity Philadelphia Takeover promoting the series, its drivers and the upcoming events at Pocono Raceway and Dover International Speedway.

This was Shane Lee’s first time taking part in the Xfinity Philadelphia Takeover, while this was Hemric’s second trip to the area for this event.

The fun-filled day consisted of a visit to Comcast headquarters in Center City Philadelphia, a fan autograph session, question-and-answer session, parade loop, pit stop displays, a trip to the iconic Philadelphia Art Museum steps, a military-pit crew physical competition and a Philadelphia Phillies game to cap off the night.

Hemric was able to drive his No. 21 South Point Hotel & Casino Chevrolet through the streets of Philadelphia, revving the engine along the parade loop and doing a massive burnout in front of City Hall that blew out the left rear tire.

The RCR pit crew wowed passersby outside the Comcast Center throughout the day by demonstrating the skills and speed needed to perform a pit stop week-in and week-out. The crew even helped make a new NASCAR fan out a young child in attendance.

The crew’s work for the day was not just limited to the race car, however. They also competed against teams of military members and veterans in a physical challenge outside Xfinity Live in South Philadelphia.

Going head-to-head with drill instructors barking commands, the RCR pit crew came out on top and made some new friends along the way.

To cap off the evening, Daniel Hemric took in batting practice ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies game against the San Francisco Giants. After watching some of baseball’s best warm up, Hemric kicked off the game by throwing out the first pitch to the Phillie Phanatic.
