RCR Heads to Lucas Oil’s Home State for Brickyard 400

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA (July 18, 2024) – Richard Childress Racing is headed to Lucas Oil’s home state for the Brickyard 400. For more than a decade, Lucas Oil’s official partnership with RCR and Childress’ respective engine company, ECR Engines, has had one goal in mind, providing the best oils and lubricants to maximize results on track. RCR depends heavily on Lucas Oil day in and day out and the partnership has grown tremendously over the years.

“The technical support Lucas provides to our race teams and ECR has resulted in numerous victories, which is why it is so special,” said Torrey Galida, president of RCR.

Lucas Oil’s story started with a humbling beginning similar to Richard Childress’ motorsports career start. While Childress sold peanuts and popcorn at his hometown’s local short track, Forrest Lucas took to the roads as a truck driver in his 18-wheeler. Life on the road is where Lucas’ curiosity peaked for a solution to extend the lifespan of his trucks through oils and lubricants, laying the foundation for an empire. Childress and Lucas would later meet and bond over conservation, a topic very near and dear to both,  intertwining the two into a business partnership.

What started off as an idea for a solution to make Forrest Lucas’ trucks last longer in 1989, turned into a legacy that his son, Morgan Lucas, now runs. A legacy that stands the test of time with brand recognition unlike any other in the professional sports world.

“Everyone in motorsports of any type knows who Lucas Oil is, and for us to represent them is an honor for us,” said Richard Childress, chairman and CEO of RCR.

An honor that has spanned for over a decade and counting. The trust RCR and Lucas Oil have in each other has driven the duo’s success to multiple wins across the NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series programs since 2014, including an Xfinity Series Championship in 2019.

Since the beginning, expert scientists and technicians at Lucas Oil have worked closely with RCR and ECR to strive for the perfect blend of engine oil capable of drawing out every competitive advantage possible. The teams test engines in simulators and real-world racing scenarios capturing hundreds of data points to measure and find areas of improvement.

The continuation of Lucas Oil’s motivation to produce the best of the best oils and lubricants in motorsports and to solve everyday problems is the very core of Lucas’ purpose. Trust, service, teamwork, courage and passion fuel Lucas Oil’s mission, aligning with their products’ reliability, continuous innovation, and longevity.
