WELCOME, N.C. (September 11, 2024) — Richard Childress Racing and Veterans Bridge Home partnered up for yet another Veterans Coffee, this time to commemorate 9/11 with a memorial ceremony. Over 400 veterans and first responders gathered together to show their gratitude for those who have stepped up to serve and protect our country and the communities where we live, one of those veterans being special guest speaker, Army Master Sergeant Kevin Holland. MSG Holland is a friend of Richard Childress’s and is a North Carolina native who is from Wilkes County. Holland is one of the many veterans who stepped up after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and is widely considered the only person to serve in Tier 1 units of the US Navy and the US Army. Holland brought a unique perspective to the Veterans Coffee event in that he conducted over two thousand combat missions in support of the US war on terror post 9/11. Most notably, Holland was on the team that located Saddam Hussein.
A special thanks to Bethany Medical for sponsoring a full buffet breakfast to those who attended the event. Other resource groups that attended today’s event and are on-site at each of the monthly Veterans Coffees include: local VA departments, The Heroes Center, Goodwill, Purple Heart, Team Red White and Blue, Military Women Veterans, Trellis Supportive Care, and Hospice of Davidson County.
Veterans Coffee events are held by VBH and RCR on the second Wednesday of every month. The next scheduled Veterans Coffee is set for Wednesday, October 9 beginning at 9 a.m. ET.
