Justin Alexander
Justin Alexander serves as the crew chief for the No. 3 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in the NASCAR Cup Series with driver Austin Dillon. Alexander assumed the crew chief role eight races into the 2024 race season at Martinsville Speedway. However, the Alexander/Dillon duo is a strong and familiar force within NASCAR.
Alexander was a crew chief for Dillon and the No. 3 team in the NASCAR Cup Series from 2017 to 2018 and 2020 to 2022, notably guiding Dillon to all four of his NASCAR Cup Series wins. Together, the Alexander/Dillon duo captured two of the sport’s “Crown Jewel” races – the Coca-Cola 600 in 2017 and the Daytona 500 in 2018.
Prior to taking over as crew chief for the No. 3 team for his third and most recent stint, Alexander was the competition director for Richard Childress Racing from November 2023 through March 2024. In that role, he supervised all competition-related departments, providing leadership, coordination and support for RCR’s race teams while also utilizing his 20 years of motorsports experience to maximize the capabilities of RCR’s Chevys across the organization.
Alexander was the director of vehicle performance for RCR and a trusted liaison between the company and manufacturer partner Chevrolet from November 2022 through October 2023.
In 2019, the race-winning crew chief led the organization’s research and development efforts and played an integral role in RCR’s technology partnership with Dow. Alexander also worked as a crew chief for Paul Menard in the NACAR Cup Series for RCR and as a race-winning crew chief in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. He has served in various engineering roles with Hendrick Motorsports.
Alexander holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University. He resides in Cornelius, NC. Married to Becca. Father to a son, Sutton, and daughter, Lennon.
