Kostecki Clinches Repco Supercars Championship Title in His Native Australia

By sglasco

It’s been a few months since Brodie Kostecki made his NASCAR Cup Series debut in Richard Childress Racing’s No. 33 MobileX Chevrolet back in August at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course, but that’s not to say that he hasn’t been plenty busy behind the wheel of a racecar. This past weekend, Kostecki clinched the Repco Supercars Championship title in his native Australia. Richard Childress was on-hand in Australia to watch Kostecki and Erebus Motorsports clinch the title.

“He’s got the talent,” Childress told media while speaking about Kostecki in Australia. “He puts the hard work into everything he does, and he loves driving race cars. He’ll be successful everywhere he goes.”

Kostecki won an impressive six races and 10 pole awards in 2023.

“A lot of people counted us out halfway through the season when we went through a bit of a lull,” Kostecki told the media in Victory Lane. “But we came back bigger and stronger with great car speed and awesome pit stops. We just kept it all together which is why we are here today because everyone behind me has put in so many hours. We are truly humbled to be here, and it is starting to sink in now.”

With a Supercars championship behind him, Kostecki’s focus now turns state-side. He is scheduled to join his RCR teammates at Circuit of the Americas December 1-3, 2023, to race in the World Racing League. The entry is fielded by Richard Childress Racing’s Garage 57 Motorsport. RCR teammates, including NASCAR Cup Series stars Kyle Busch and Austin Dillon along with NASCAR Xfinity Series rookie Jesse Love, are scheduled to compete. Kostecki and the team will race in two eight-hour endurance races on Saturday and Sunday in the GTO Class.
