Bamber will make his NASCAR debut in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 21 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing at the Daytona International Speedway Road Course.
An accomplished road racer with global experience, Bamber currently competes in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, where he won a GTLM title for Porsche in 2019.
Bamber?s major sports car racing accomplishments to-date include overall victories in the 24 Hours of LeMans in 2015 and 2017. His 2015 win in the Porsche 919 Hybrid LMP1 secured Porsche their first win at LeMans in 17 years. He also was the winner of the 2017 FIA World Endurance Championship for Drivers. The World Champion title inducted him in the FIA Hall of Fame.
As a rookie, Bamber won the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup Championship. It is a record he still holds today as the only rookie to ever win.
Bamber is a two-time Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Champion. He won back to back championships in 2014 and 2013.
Bamber began his motorsports career racing go karts in his native New Zealand before progressing to single seater series. Eventually Bamber represented New Zealand in A1GP Championship.
A native of Wanganui, New Zealand, Bamber currently resides in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Andy has been part of the RCR family for the last 16 years, serving as an engineer in a variety of departments; chassis shop, suspension shop, design department, R&D team, Cup teams, and NXS teams.
Andy received his degree in mechanical engineering from UNC Charlotte in 2003, and also took time getting his associate degree at Forsyth Technical Community College.
Being part of several marque wins for RCR, Andy?s favorite ones were the 2006 Loudon win with Kevin Harvick, 2007 DAYTONA 500 win with Kevin Harvick, and the 2010 Loudon win with Clint Bowyer.
Born and raised in Kernersville, NC, Andy currently resides in Lexington, NC, with his wife Lauren, and their daughter, Addison.
